Shower & Tub Wall Tile Replacement

Ready to replace the old tile around your shower or bathtub? We remove the wall finishes and backing down to the studs, then build a suitable surface for new waterproofing and tile. The existing structural framing stays in place when it is sound.

New walls around the bath you use every day

A full wall replacement gives you a chance to change dated tile, adjust the layout and finish exposed edges properly. We replace the wall assembly in the agreed area instead of covering old tile or replacing a few damaged pieces.

This service can suit a tub surround or shower whose walls need replacing. It is different from a complete shower rebuild, which may also replace the shower base and drain. We help you identify which scope fits the existing installation.

Update the backsplash while keeping what works

  • Removal of the old tile and wall backing in the agreed area
  • Review of the exposed wall conditions before covering them
  • New backer board or another substrate approved for the chosen system
  • Waterproofing and properly detailed connections in wet areas
  • New tile, grout, edge finishes and required flexible joints

We discuss the tile height, pattern, corners and any niche before installation. Your estimate identifies removal, preparation, materials and finishing responsibilities.

What can stay and what needs a closer look

Keeping the bathtub or shower base depends on its condition and whether the new waterproofing can connect to it correctly. A wall-only replacement is not suitable for every existing shower. We review this before recommending the project.

Moving or rebuilding structural studs, beams or other supports is not part of the standard wall replacement. If removal reveals damaged framing or another condition outside the agreed scope, we explain the issue and agree on the next step before additional work proceeds.

A useful starting point for your estimate

Tell us whether the walls surround a tub or a shower and whether you hope to keep the existing base. Photos of the full area and the wall-to-base connection are helpful, but not required to make your first request. Tile choice, demolition, wall condition and finished height all affect the estimate.

Before You Begin

Do you remove the old drywall or backer board?

Yes, in the wall area being replaced. We remove the old tile and backing to the studs and install a substrate suited to the selected tile and waterproofing system.

Will you change the structural framing?

The standard scope keeps sound structural framing in place. Structural changes or damaged framing require a separate assessment and agreement.

Can the existing tub or shower base stay?

Possibly. Its condition and the waterproofing connection must support that approach. If they do not, we discuss a larger replacement scope before you commit.

Is this a regrouting or patch repair service?

No. This is replacement of the tiled wall assembly. Standalone grout, caulk and small tile repairs are not part of this service.
